The ICC Approach

Kristin is a seasoned therapist, dedicated to helping her clients heal and thrive within the parameters of their core values. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), both of which are evidence-based approaches that help clients struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, health worries, grief, coping and more. CBT focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors, while ACT promotes resiliency to difficult emotions and encourages values-based action. Both therapies have been proven to be effective in improving mental health and overall well-being.

A Bit About Kristin

Kristin Bennion is a licensed mental health therapist and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist with over 15 years of experience providing individual therapy as well as relationship counseling and coaching. With a welcoming and engaging approach, she provides clients evidence-based treatment for concerns related to emotional, psychological, spiritual and sexual well-being. Kristin’s expertise and relatability creates a safe and collaborative environment for discussing her clients’ unique concerns as she assists them in acquiring the skill sets, healing and growth they so deeply desire.

Before beginning her career as a therapist, she gained invaluable experience working as a case manager for a domestic violence shelter, serving on the homeless provider committee in Salt Lake City, and volunteering at the Rape Recovery Center through its Crisis Line and hospital response team. She has extensive experience working in residential treatment as well as emergency room crisis work. In addition to running a practice and working with clients, Kristin is nearing the completion of a PhD in Human Sexuality.

When she isn't working or studying, Kristin loves traveling, getting together with friends and spending as much time as possible with her spouse and their two young children--typically watching one of their favorite sports teams or a new television series once the kids are finally down for the night. Her personal experiences along with her clinical training have provided her with an intimate understanding and expertise regarding sexuality, gender, dating, motherhood, family life, religion and spirituality and has given her even more clinically sound insight and tools to help her clients thrive.
